Welcome to Sacramento Mountain Outfitters of New Mexico
We take pride in what we do and our goal is to provide every
client with a successful and enjoyable elk hunt. This is a
family owned and operated business. We handle strictly
private land hunts and monitor and control our game harvest
continually.
With my knowledge of the Sacramento
Mountains, I intend to give you a successful and enjoyable
hunt. I am a native New Mexican, I have hunted, fished and
trapped this state my entire life. This ranch holds all the
right ingredients for a once in a lifetime opportunity to
harvest a great Bull Elk.
We are located in the middle of the
Lincoln National Forest and Sacramento Mountains in southern
New Mexico. With a combined acreage of nearly 10,500 acres
from altitudes of 6,000 feet to 9,000 feet, being in good
physical condition is not necessary but should help to
increase your success rate.
The elk herds of New Mexico are thriving.
Their numbers increase every year and so do the number of
licenses available. The bulls in our area are renown for
their huge racks. The season opens with a September bow
hunt, followed by October muzzleloader and rifle hunts. The
rut starts in September and we find bulls bugling through
October.
Private land elk permits guarantee a
license. The only way to guarantee yourself an elk tag in
New Mexico is to purchase a landowner permit. The
landowner permits are issued to private ranches and elk
hunts are conducted exclusively on private land. Elevations range from
6,000 feet to as high as 9,000 feet. We provide excellent
opportunities for taking big game and have superb
populations of elk. The elk population continues to increase
on our hunting property with more and bigger bulls each
year. The ranch works hard to protect and preserve its
magnificent herd.
We offer a variety of elk hunts in order to meet individual
goals and physical capabilities. Every elk hunt has a
limited number of licenses, ensuring low hunting pressure
and quality Elk herds. All hunts are for wild, free ranging
Elk and we only hunt on private land. No high fences
and no releasing of elk, just a solid, fair-chase trophy elk
hunt. Sacramento Mountain Outfitters does not guarantee
anything regarding hunting. Hunting is hunting. But with
that said, most all hunters get shot opportunities at 300+
bulls.
We use four-wheel drives or ATV's to reach various
locations, after that, the hunt will require you to cover
the hunting grounds on foot to locate the bulls. We have had
very consistent success on our Elk hunts and the majority of
our hunters have had an opportunity to take a mature Bull.
